Overview

Bali in 6 days

Bali is Hindu in a Muslim-majority country, which is why the island feels the way it does. There is a temple at the head of every village and a ceremony most weeks. The interior around Ubud is terraced rice and river gorge; the south is beach.

Six days covers both without a rush. Two nights inland at Ubud for the terraces, temples and craft villages, three on the coast, and a day trip to Nusa Penida for the Kelingking viewpoint if the crossing is running.

Trip highlights

  • Tanah Lot sea temple at sunset
  • Uluwatu clifftop temple with the Kecak fire dance
  • The Tegallalang rice terraces and Ubud monkey forest
  • Ulun Danu Beratan, the lake temple in the highlands
  • Optional Nusa Penida day trip for Kelingking Beach
  • A Balinese cooking class or spa afternoon

Day-by-day itinerary

Met at Ngurah Rai airport and transferred south. Evening at Tanah Lot for the sunset.

Transfer inland via the Tegallalang terraces, the Tirta Empul water temple and the Ubud craft villages.

Ulun Danu Beratan on Lake Bratan, the Handara gate, Git Git waterfall and the Jatiluwih terraces.

Move to Kuta, Seminyak or Nusa Dua. Afternoon free on the beach.

Padang Padang and Melasti beaches, then Uluwatu temple and the Kecak fire dance at sunset. Nusa Penida is the alternative full-day option.

Free morning, then transfer to the airport.

Bali FAQs

Indonesia issues a visa on arrival to Indian nationals for tourism, extendable once. Rules change, so we confirm the current position and fees before you book.

The Kelingking viewpoint is spectacular, but it is a fast boat crossing plus rough island roads and a long day. Worth it if you are mobile and the sea is calm.

Roughly November to March, usually heavy afternoon showers rather than all-day rain. April to October is drier and the standard window.

Both, which is what this itinerary does. Ubud for the culture and the green, the south coast for the beach and the restaurants.
